Microsoft executive says E3 presentation will clear up Xbox One questions – Gaming news
Microsoft executive Aaron Greenberg has claimed that a lot of queries regarding Xbox One and its features will be answered at the company’s 2013 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) presentation.
While the unveiling of Microsoft’s much awaited and arguably long-overdue next-generation console last week was exactly what the gamers, especially Xbox loyalists, had been waiting for, their excitement was short-lived as they learned about the various restrictions
and additions that the company had made to the console.
The fans were not too happy to learn that Xbox One would require a constant Internet connection and that the single-player games will require online verification after every 24 hours.
If that news was not a big enough shock for the gamers, it was revealed that while gamers could be installed to the internal storage and played on different consoles, the game would be linked to the Xbox Live account, thus preventing one copy of the game
to be played by two different users.
In order to play the game using a different Xbox Live account, a small unlock fee would have to be given.
The two aforementioned issues, coupled with the privacy issues related to the mandatory requirement of the motion-sensor device Kinect, have caused quite an uproar in the gaming community.
Acknowledging the strong reaction of the fans to the alleged issues in the Xbox One, Greenberg addressed the fans on Twitter, stating that the company would clear a lot of things about the upcoming console at E3.
“A lot of assumptions but very little based on facts,” he said.
“We will share more at E3. We will get it right,” wrote Greenberg, who serves as Microsoft’s chief of staff for interactive entertainment business.
According to the Microsoft executive, the mood at the company’s Redmond head-quarters is positive.
Greenberg also conceded that the company will be showcasing indie developing at the upcoming video game conference as well, much to the joy of the fans.
Announced on May 21, 2013, Xbox One is expected to hit the shelves in the final quarter of this year. Microsoft has pledged 15 exclusives for the upcoming console in its first year.
The latest edition of E3 is scheduled to take place in Los Angeles on June 10.
