Hi, I really need help, my Microsoft word doesn't work, so I purchased a new Microsoft office package, and I want to install it.

Would I have to delete my old Microsoft programme, if so how do i delete it?

Would any of the files i saved on my old Microsoft word, be affected?

would my saved documents still work on my new installed microsoft word?

Please help!!! I need to use Word urgently for a homework i've got to hand in! I'd be grateful if you can help!

Thank you

  1. Just install it.  If there's a problem, it will prompt you for permission to overwrite the current version of Word, although it might not.  I've got two different versions of Word on my computer, albeit one of them is really old.

To uninstall your current version of Word, click Start>>Control Panel>>Add and Remove Programs and select it from the list.

The old docs will work but it may want to upgrade them when you launch them, and once you click ok, it may change them permanently.  Save them as another doc until you're sure you like the conversion.

  2. you don't have to "delete" your old Office program. The new one will replace it.  Once it's replaced, you can't go back to the old version (without having to reinstall it again).

it should not affect any of your saved documents.  But if it makes you nervous, just make a copy of them someplace like "my documents" or whatever.

your saved docs will work in the new version.
