Microsoft hiring for next generation Halo title – Video Games Update
Even though 343 Industries (343i) is still working on Halo 4 which is due to be released November 6, 2012 exclusively on the Xbox 360, Microsoft has posted job listing on their site for a next generation graphics developer.
After the departure of Bungie, the original developers and creators of the Halo franchise, 343i, a Microsoft in-house studio created exclusively to cater to the Halo brand, will be taking over the series with their first game Halo 4 which is set to be released
this holiday season in November.
Microsoft has a lot riding on Halo 4 being a commercial success as this is the first game of the new trilogy in the Halo saga and the sequels will most likely be released on the next generation Xbox. Halo is Microsoft’s flagship Xbox title and if the fourth
game doesn’t live up to the fan expectations, the next Xbox, rumoured to be released in 2013, will suffer at launch. 343i has some big shoes to fill as the new developer will most likely face additional scrutiny over Halo 4’s game design and story related
decisions from critics and gamers alike.
Microsoft seems confident with how Halo 4 development is coming along and according to the recent job listings the fifth title of the series for next generation Xbox is already in production. This means that 343i is pretty confident that their first Halo
game will be a commercial success which will fuel the demand for the sequel likely to show up next generation.
“Microsoft Studios 343 Industries is looking for an experienced graphics developer to help create the current and next generation of game visuals in the Halo universe. Work on one of the most exciting and creative properties in the industry; Work with the
incredible 343 team to help drive the future of Halo,” stated the job advertisement on Microsoft’s website.
The advertisement also mentioned that DirectX 11 (DX11) experience would be considered a bonus which is further proof that the job is for a next generation Halo game as the Xbox 360 doesn’t support DX11. There were also rumours about 343i working on a Halo
2 high definition remake, but the developer has claimed that they are completely false as 343i has its hands full at the moment.
