Microsoft word and Open Office.org question?

I'm wondering if microsoft word can open open office.org files. I want to know if i did a report at home if i could open it on microsoft word at school ((all we use)(don't have a printer)). Tell me yes or no only if you experienced this yourself...best answer gets 5 stars.

  1. you can save the file in open office as a microsoft office compatible document

    .doc  i believe is the extension


  2. MS word cannot open the default filetype for open office files (*.ODT), and open offices sometimes has trouble opening MSWord OpenXML files. There should be a setting in open office to change the default save as filetype to msword 2000 .doc files; if you do this, you wont ever have to worry about opening open-office files in word. I don't think there is such a setting in MSWord.

  3. Word will not view .odt files it creates. The work around is you must insure you save the file as a .doc file so that Word can access it.
