Whenever I paste a picture from the internet onto word it just comes up as a blank white square with a 1 pixel thick black border. I try removing the hyperlink, but that doesn't work. Also if I click on the white square it doesn't even let me resize it. this happens for all pictures. However when I print preview the page the pictures show up fine... how can I fix this? It's annoying when trying to do coursework

  1. The best way always when wanting to use images from the internet is firstly to right click on them and save as a jpeg into My pictures or elsehwere and then from your document, insert, picture, from file. Saves all the problems.

  2. Don't go straight from the internet to Word. right click (windows) or cntrl click (mac) and the choose save image as. save it to the desktop then drag into word. another may is drag image onto the desktop then into word.

  3. I suspect you have Show Picture Placeholders set.  Try this:

In Word versions before Word 2007 (Vista):

    1. Click the Tools->Options menu item.

    2. Click the View tab.

    3. Uncheck the Picture Placeholders checkbox.

    4. Click OK.

    In Word 2007:

    1. Click the Office button in the upper left-hand corner.

    2. Click the Word Options button.

    3. Click the Advanced tab.

    4. Under Show Document Content, uncheck Show Picture Placeholders.

    5. Click OK.

    Hope that helps.

  4. I have seen this before

    Try this:

Right klick on the empty desktop. Select "Properties". Then go to "settings", then press "advanced" and open the tap "troubleshooting". Then move the slider all the way to the other side and klick ok.

Reopen Word and see if it works.

This fixed the problem for me when I saw this problem first.
