  1. best thing is to put some water in there with lemon. the water will steam up those stains and make them easy to wipe away the lemon acts as a natural disinfectant and will leave it smelling nice and fresh

  2. Here is a great tip:  Take a bowl of water and place it in the microwave...heat it up for about 5 minutes so that the water boils up enough to fill the microwave with steam and condensation.  Then, remove the bowl and start srubbing.  The food particles should come off with ease.  Plus, you don't have to put dangerous chemicals in your microwave.

  3. you can clean a microwave? wow this new to me and explains so much.....    well as far as i know, oven cleaner or good ol elbow grease and soap and water...... put a paper towel over your food when you nuke it, saves on the mess

  4. put a bowl of vinger in microwave untill boil, then leave door open to let freshnes in

  5. you really shouldn't use any kind of cleaning chemical in the microwave.best bet is just use a cloth with some warm water and a little dish soap. The dish soap can be rinsed right out with another cloth with cold water as to leave no residue.if you wipe the microwave out after every use you won't have any food build up

  6. flash cause flash does the hard work for you

  7. In a coffee mug combine 3 tablespoons of white vinegar and 6 teaspoons of water. Put the mug in the microwave and microwave on high for 2-3 minutes. Open the microwave and remove the mug (careful-it's really hot) and wipe out with a damp sponge. I didn't believe it, but my husband and I tried it and it worked!!! I didn't have to scrub and I didn't use any harsh chemicals. To get the vinegar smell out, put a cup of baking soda in a coffee mug or paper cup and let it sit in there over night. If it still smells, pop a bag of popcorn--that always makes it smell good again! ;) Good luck!

  8. Mr Muscle does a 'stainless steel cleaner' saw it in Sainsbury's

  9. Don't use "steel" wool type pads or scrubby sponges--even the ones labeled safe for no-stick and teflon surfaces or anything even mildy abrasive as over time, they will scratch the interior and cause later problems like discoloring and scratching.

The all-plastic netting ones that look like they are made from net orange bags all scrunched up into a poofy, round hockey puck, usually are safe ones to use.

Windex, Ajax, Austin's simple green organic fluid, and the like, over time, will tint the inside the color of the cleaning fluid, blue or orange or whatever color it is, if you use it regularly. It deposits in the tiny scratches made by abrasive scrubbies, etc.

For dried on crusty food, you can try a silcone hard plastic scraper (I used to get mine free from a friend who gave them away as premiums for an in home-party company called Pampered Chef) that won't scratch. I think painters sometimes use these for when they get paint on delicate surface and can't use a knife or blade scraper--maybe one of them can get one for you? Or a hi-end cooking store should have something similar.

Microwave cleaner cloths safe for ceramic, glass and plastic interior parts are available now, too.

DO NOT use strong chemical cleansers such as Bang, etc, as these will cause damage over time, stripping the protective coating off plastic parts and seals, or yellowing and scratching the ceramic. It may even etch the glass, is you get it on there.

The idea of lemon, water and baking soda in a bowl, heated to boiling and creating condensation, then using the heated water to scrub with, helps loosen and remove dried stuff, and makes the interior smell a lot better, too--but really, you just need to wipe out the interior with a wet paper towel after every splatter incident and then you're usually fine. Yeah, I know, it's already past that for you, right?

You have just discovered what a lot of us already found out the hard way: microwaves, while awesome tools in the kitchen, require specialized care to keep clean. They are way easier to deal with now, than when I first started using them (1980s), but nothing is perfect, I guess.

Good luck with your cleaning issue. I hate cleaning, myself, so I am always looking for easy ways to deal with this chore.

  10. No because any product you put in will literally be 'cooked' and dry up every time you use the microwave.

  11. I agree with water in microwave only thing I do different is I use a microsoft cleaning hand towels get as wet as possible and put that in microwave steams everything up let sit for about 30 minutes till wet towels cools down and use towel to clean up it is perfect no elbow grease at all. Do not use oven cleaners or harsh chemicals in microwave danger to you and microwave.!!!!!!

  12. I use windex believe it or not. It's not harmful and has ammonia which cleans well. I hope this helps.

  13. Cover your food next time you microwave it. Avoid the problem all together.
