  1. yes mid-ocean ridges an sea-floor spreading are linked.

the mid-ocean ridge is an area that is mountainess and the spreading is slower in the Atlantic. But in the Pacific the mid- ocean ridge is much smooth it more like hills.

the spading of the ocean ridges are caused by the plate boundaries moving apart form each other in different directions

  2. Hi there. I'm actually listening to a BBC program telling all about Plate Techtonincs. Cut and copy this link, below.

    http//www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/

    history/inourtime/inourtime_20080124.s...

    080124.shtml

For some reason the link will not copy onto this site correctly?

Anyway, type the link in manually but leave out the three .dots (...) after the 20, . it should read > >>>  /inourtime_20080124.shtml -- and enjoy.

    Kind regards

    Dr Antony

  3. A  mid ocean ridge is a mountain range under sea. Basically, magma rises from the ridge and cools, this keeps happenings and so the sea floor gets wider, but this is at a slow rate. This means that the distance from the USA to the Uk is increasing. Th youngest sea floor is at the ridge and as you travel further away from the ridge, the age of the floor increases.

    Look at this picture: http://www.waterencyclopedia.com/images/...

You see the dark line in the ocean between the USA and Europe? Well that is a mid-ocean ridge and the magma comes out of there and pushes the continents further away.

  4. Seafloor spreading occurs at a mid-ocean ridge. Seafloor spreading is basically the ocean floor expanding. A mid-ocean ridge (Mid-Atlantic Ridge) causes seafloor spreading.
