Mid West Rhinos 65 & 491 v Matabeleland Tuskers 216 & 91/4 (29.0 ov) - Matabeleland Tuskers require another 250 runs with 6 wickets remaining
At stumps on the penultimate day of the four-day match between Mid West Rhinos and Matabeleland Tuskers, the latter need to chase down 250 runs left to win, at Kwekwe Sports Club.
The Rhinos are certainly in a dominating position as they have managed to put a huge total on the board, and now have the whole day to bowl-out their opposition. And the way the wicket has been behaving, it can safely be concluded that batsmen are certainly not enjoying on this surface.
It is highly unlikely that the pitch will make a rapid change on the final day, which means that Mid West’s bowlers should be able to wrap-up the match in due course of time, unless Tuskers pull off a majestic batting performance to leave the Rhinos guessing.
Meanwhile, the third day began with the Rhinos resuming their batting from an overnight tally of 341 for four.
With http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MN-Waller-c1989 on 132 and SM Mugava on 24, the Rhinos were in a mood to give their opposition a beating right from the get go.
The fifth-wicket partnership did wonders for the Rhinos, as the batsmen took the score to 427, denying the Tuskers an early breakthrough.
Finally, MM Ali drew first blood when he nabbed the wicket of Mugava, who perished after smashing a 58-run knock.
The next partnership was short-lived, as ML Nkala could muster only seven runs before he was trapped in front of stumps by Querl.
Then with 461 runs on the board, the Rhinos lost their next wicket on the departure of R Nyathi, who crumbled after scoring 12 runs.
While wickets kept falling from one end, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Waller-c95917, continued his supreme batting as he stayed unbeaten on a stupendous knock of 208, with his team succumbing on 491 runs, at the end of their second innings.
By giving their opponents a target of 341, the Rhinos had been successful in their mission and it was now up to their bowlers to get them across the finish line.
The Tuskers were perhaps taken aback by this huge target, as they had a devastating start to their run chase, losing three wickets with only four runs on the board.
They finished the day on 91 runs with four batsmen back in the pavilion.
