http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Matabeleland-Tuskers-c815 – Logan Cup – Match Update – Tuskers win by 3 wickets
Centurion http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 from November
27 to 30.
The match kicked off with the Rhinos winning the toss and choosing to bat first. However, their first innings was an utter disaster, owing to the aggressive spells bowled by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Remembrance-Nyathi-c84657 (22) and
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jaik-Mickleburgh-c1627 (16) were the only batsmen who reached double figures, while the rest gave their wickets away cheaply.
Opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mluleki-Luke-Nkala-c76443 (3), and wicketkeeper Nyasha Mayavo (5) were similarly insipid. Within 32 overs, the Rhinos
were all out at a paltry first innings total of 65.
The Tuskers build up their dominant stance further with a doable performance in their first innings, despite the efforts of the Rhinos’ Richard Muzhange (15.1-3-73-4), Rainsford (15-2-54-3), and Nkala (11-2-38-2). Querl (40*), Sean Ervine (38), and Moeen
Ali (32) remained the top-run getters and the team managed to work their way up to a total of 216 before they were all out within 50 overs. While the total was hardly substantial, the opposition’s 65 paled in comparison to it.
However, the Rhinos bounced back spectacularly during their second innings, with massive performances from Malcolm Waller (208*), skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Njabulo-Ncube-c79773 (29-6-97-2), and Querl
(29-7-52-2) were feeble in the face of the Rhinos’ batsmen, and the team managed to post a stellar total of 491 before they were all out, setting the Tuskers a 341-run target.
The Rhinos’ Muzhange (20-2-76-2) and Rainsford (19-5-66-2) then proceeded to do their best to keep the opposition’s batsmen in line, but the Tuskers’ were up to the challenge. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SC-Williams-c2464 (118) established a solid base for the team,
and the remainder of the job was completed by Charles Coventry (106*), who succeeded in guiding the Tuskers safely up to 346, with 3 wickets remaining.
