Bolstered by a massive century from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/H-Masakadza-c1517, the Mountaineers claimed an emphatic 47-run win over the Mid West Rhinos, in the ongoing Zimbabwe Domestic Twenty20 Competition, at the Kwekwe Sports Club today on October 18.
The Rhinos won the toss and decided to field first, but while their bowlers – notable among them http://www.senore.com/Cricket/EC-Rainsford-c1415 (4-0-38-2) and Richard Muzhange (4-0-30-2) – managed to claim a fair few wickets, the team was unable to dislodge centurion Masakadza until the
final over, leading the Mountaineers to post a formidable final total of 184.
Opening for his side, Hamilton Masakadza smashed 103 off 59 balls, in addition to setting up a 79-run opening stand with Kevin Kasuza (35). The Rhinos finally got a breakthrough in the 9th over, with Graeme Cremer intervening to dislodge Kasuza,
and the dismissal was followed swiftly by the departure of skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tino-Mawoyo-c2683 (7) via run out, in the 11th over.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/T-Maruma-c2628 (22) managed to apply himself at the crease for longer, however, and set up the Mountaineers’ second 79-run stand, with H Masakadza. Their efforts got the team up to 168 by the 18th over, after which Maruma was sent packing by Muzhange.
The remainder of the batting order remained lacklustre, but most of the work had already been done. Wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kudzai-Sauramba-c1817 (0) and Shingi Masakadza (1) were both dismissed for paltry scores, by Rainsford and Muzhange respectively, and H Masakadza

The Rhinos registered a similarly insipid performance with the bat, and troubled as they were by Shingi Masakadza (4-1-25-2) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Donald-Tiripano-c1393 (4-0-16-2), found themselves restricted to 137 by the end of 20 overs.
Opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MA-Vermeulen-c1872 (21) made a valiant attempt to steady the innings with a 40-run stand for the second wicket.
Both were dismissed (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jaik-Mickleburgh-c1627 (8) in the 9th over. By this point the Rhinos were at 52 for 4, and the team was unable to recover
from the early losses.
Steven Trenchard top-scored for the team with an unbeaten 40, but http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Waller-c95917 was sent back to the pavilion by Tiripano,
and Cremer eventually fell prey to Utseya. Simon Mugava (7) was dismissed by S Masakadza, and by the end of 20 overs, with Rainsford (6*) accompanying Trenchard at the crease, the Rhinos finished at 137, with the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mountaineers-c818 claiming a 47-run win.
