http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mid-West-Rhinos-c816 v Mountaineers – Zimbabwe One-Day Competition – Match Update
The Mid West Rhinos’ ruthless bowling attack crushed the Mountaineers completely, restricting them to a low total which the Rhinos’ batsmen went on to chase with ease, claiming an 8-wicket win during the ongoing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 One-Day Competition, at the Kwekwe
Sports Club on October 17.
The Rhinos won the toss and decided to field first, going on to launch a relentless 4-man bowling attack, led by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/EC-Rainsford-c1415 (7-2-9-2) chipping in with vital
contributions. The steady fall of wickets, and the stifling spells from all four bowlers, particularly Rainsford, saw the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mountaineers-c818 crumbling, all out, at a dismal total of 66.
Opener Kevin Kasuza was dismissed on duck by Rainsford in the very first over, followed swiftly by the exit of fellow opener and skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/H-Masakadza-c1517 (1) as his second victim of the day, in the 7th
over, and Chinouya followed up with the wicket of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/GA-Lamb-c1450 (3) in the very next over, leaving the Mountaineers at 10 for 4.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kudzai-Sauramba-c1817 (who top-scored for the team with 14) teamed up for a 19-run partnership for the 5th wicket, which came to an end in the 17th over, during which Maruma was trapped lbw by Cremer,
while http://www.senore.com/Cricket/P-Utseya-c2145 was dismissed on duck via run out.
Sauramba was finally dislodged by Muzhange in the 18th over, and the following batsmen – Shingi Masakadza (1) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Donald-Tiripano-c1393 (9) – both remained ineffective. Natsai M’shangwe (12) and Tendai Chatara (13*) were the only other batsmen aside
from Sauramba who managed to reach double figures. However, their contributions were not enough to save the team, and by the 27th over, the Mountaineers were all out, at 66.
The Rhinos then proceeded to breeze through the chase, getting up to 68 within 13 overs, at the expense of just 2 wickets. Openers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915
was dismissed, lbw, by Chatara in the 4th over.
Sibanda, however, continued to move forward, teaming up with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jaik-Mickleburgh-c1627 (6*) ensured
that the team got safely over the finish line, reaching 68 with 8 wickets and 227 balls still remaining.
