I am working on a project and need to find a king around the 1300s (can be 1200s) who had no sons and who died of unknown causes. Preferably someone who Persecuted people as well or was away from his land a lot. No specific nationality required. If you know someone who matches ANY of these details PLEASE let me know ASAP!

The king doesn't have to meet all these details, but at least either he had no sons or died of unknown causes on an unknown date.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

  1. Could even be William Rufus (William II) who died in mysterious circumstances in 1100 during a hunting-trip in the New Forest, leaving no heir. He was famously unpopular, both among the English and the Normans, and his death has been the subject of much speculation. But if it is an English king you are referring to, it is more likely to be Richard I (Richard the Lionheart), or Richard II.

If it is a French king, it could be Louis X (le Hutin), who died in suspicious circumstances at Vincennes in 1316 after a short and unpopular reign leaving a son who lived only a few days, his brother Philip V (d. 1322),  or their brother Charles IV (d. 1328), an extremely unpopular king whose death brought the Capetian dynasty to an end.

  2. King Henry the 8th. 1500s...Had 7 wives...had 2 beheaded divorced one one died in childbirth.he had a son who died from tb at 15.defintely the most interesting.they think he died from a skin infection but arent sure. his daughter from his second wife became Queen Elizabeth, the virgin queen, of England. Look up King Henry Tudor

  3. richard II of england... no children, died of either starvation/murder

check out wikipedia.org... they have a bunch of information

    good luck!

  4. could be Richard I of England - 12th century.

    (September 8, 1157 – April 6, 1199)

    - as he was also monarch of parts of France and was one of the Crusader kings he was rarely in England

-when he died his brother  became King

-he died from an arrow shot  by a boy whose marksmanship he was watching - it looked like an accident but the boy confessed to doing it deliberately.

    although th date was clear

    But it is more

    likely to be Richard II

He came to the throne as a child of ten in 1377.

    He had no children himself.

During his reign his taxation policies were so severe there was first of all a yeoman's rebellion led by Wat Tyler  which he put down but then opposition from another Royal, Henry Bolingbroke

He died supposedly on February 17, 1400. but his was a mysterious death as by this time Henry Bolingbroke had claimed the throne and Richard, captured and imprisoned, was  believed to have been killed by starvation, or was otherwise murdered
