Middle Ages - What crimes were committed in order to deserve the death penalty?

What crimes did people die for in the middle ages, and by what means were they killed? Were they humiliated beforehand (like being paraded through town wearing a sign with their crime on it or something of the sort)? Was there any mercy shown to children who committed the crime without being aware of what they were doing or lacked knowledge of the consequences?

Don't feel obligated to answer every question - if you don't know something that's fine.

Thank you!

  1. probably because they betrayed the king or stole anothers cattle!!!and they got beheaded ''means they chopped there head of'' or got thrown in a dungeon where they would be torchered............yeah they had ways back then!!!

  2. Didn't have prisons back then except to hold them long enough to try them. so one was usually either fined, executed or physically mutilated as punishment.

Also the trial system was really ****** up so that one had to carry heated bars or risk drowning as your trial.
