Middle East golf mania kicks off with Mahan Hunting Commercialbank Qatar Masters title
With the Commercialbank Qatar Masters getting underway from the 2nd of this month, US PGA Tour Star, Hunter Mahan, will be looking forward to claim his breakthrough victory at the reputed event scheduled to take place in Doha.
The four-day event, which is being sponsored by Dolphin Energy, has always been a tough ground for American golfers.
On the other hand, it has mainly been European golfers who quite effectively capitalise on the loopholes of their opponents.
However, despite all these weaknesses, the 29-year-old Californian is all geared up and set to compete with his European counterparts and also with other prominent golfers, including PGA stars, such as KJ Choi.
Furthermore, the line-up has become star-studded with the presence of World No. 2 Lee Westwood, number four Martin Kaymer and Jason Day.
In addition to this, it is also important to mention here that, currently at the 17th spot, Mahan has been able to demonstrate his golfing skills and potentials thrice in the Presidents Cup and also the Ryder Cup.
However, he was not able to claim victory in any of his games. He reached the finals in 2010, where he lost to Graeme McDowell at the penultimate hole.
"We always enjoy welcoming the US players to Qatar and while no American has managed to tame the course, it is surely only a matter of time before the Mother of Pearl trophy finds a US winner," said Hassan Al Nuaimi, President of the Qatar Golf Association
(QGA).
He also added that Hunter is one of the most competitive players in the Commercialbank squad. It is being anticipated that he will be able to perform well at the event.
Even though the heat and the competitive edge of the event is on the rise, Mahan tried to cool it down with the help of showing his lighter side.
He performed to their song 'Oh Oh Oh' along with his ‘Golf Boys’ members, Rickie Fowler, Ben Crane and Bubba Watson.
The song after getting uploaded on Youtube has already generated more than three million hits.
