ok so i lived in Spain for the last 3 years. I know, cool! whatever... what does that have to do with Middle Eastern food in Dallas?

well there was this great place for Middle Eastern food near where i lived, unfortuantly my famliy moved back to the state, (do ask you don't need to know anymore than what i've already said) now we live in the Dallas Forworth area, and i'd like to find another Middle Eastern food place, i've been craving the food we had in Spain, Falafel Hummus pita bread, and gyros just to name a few. Any one know a good restaurant(s) to find these?

  1. Try Ali babas cafe.

I have eaten at the one on MacArthur and really like it.

I have also eaten at The Dunes in Iving - across from Irving Mall. Also recommend it.

  2. Best place I've ever been is Ali Baba's Cafe.  They used to be on lowest greenville (just before Ross), but they recently moved. I have been told they moved to the Lakewood Shopping Center (Abrams and Gaston) but I've not had the chance to get there yet.

I've been to some of the other AliBabas, and the ones out in the North Dallas or the Suburbs, seemed to try to turn it into 'cuisine' and lost the 'just plain good food' part of it.

  3. There are quite a few Middle Eastern restaurants and markets in Dallas.

Cafe Izmir on Greenville Avenue is really good.

Fadi's Mediterranean Grill is on Knox St.

Al-Amir is also on Greenville and they have belly dancing and really good garlic chicken.

Barry's Sandwiches From Galillee is a hole-in-the-wall in Snider Plaza by SMU.

Izmir Mediterranean Tapas is on Elm St.

Marrakesh is on Lovers Ln. and has a cool atmosphere.

Ali Baba Cafe & Market on Preston Rd. has good food to go.

Sahel Sahara has a restaurant and a market next door. It's on Alpha.

Hedary's in Ft. Worth is excellent.

If you look on the guidelive.com website you will find a long list of Middle Eastern restaurants. The ones above are just some that I have been to.
