  1. As stated above, you will be playing opposite the setter.

You will hit on the right side.  As soon as the ball goes over the net, you will switch to the right side if possible.  You may even switch before that if you can without causing your team to not have any blocking.

You may or may not serve, depending on the coach.  You will go back to the serving position, but the coach may send someone in to serve for you.  Your team may also be running a 6-2 and you will be subbed out for the other setter.

And you may or may not play right side in defense.  If your team is running a 6-2, you will not even be playing defense.  If your team is running a 5-1 as stated above, you will probably be playing the right side.  However, your coach may change you because of your abilities.

You will hit right side and block their outside hitter.  If you are right handed and can learn to hit the line with your spike, you will be very effective.  I mean VERY effective.  Most right handed right side hitters hit cross court and further cross court.  You should learn to start your approach from the sideline and approach the net in a straight line.  If you learn the line shot, you will become very popular with your setter.  And your coach.

  2. The opposite normally hits a 'five' or an 'X' and also blocks on the right, meaning they block the other teams' outside hitter. (In rotation 1, depending on how your team sets it up, the opposite may hit a 4 out of serve receive). They also set if the setter has the first contact and is unable to set. Yes, the opposite serves unless a DS (defensive speacialist) goes in when you rotate into the back row. In the back row, the opposite can pass in serve receive or 'hide'. This means they would not pass serve receive, but rather stand near the back line while 3 other players pass serve recieve. The opposite plays right back in defense. Once again, if thge setter has first contact and is unable to set, the opposite would step in to set. Hope this helps. I wish my team had 5 or 6 middles, (we currently have 1, lol) :]

  3. im confused....oppisite?do you mean outside?maybe defense?

  4. YEA they do serve! ok and opposite just means that when ur in ur positions ur always there opposite! they serve unles coach takes u out! hope i helped brittni

  5. opposite is just like setter, but you don't set haha.

yaya rotations are exactly the same.

    yes they serve in games!

haha they are just like evryone eles cept you hit weak side.

you help pass when help is needed,

you could also be a setter.

    and you hit weak side.

  6. Opposite is just another word for a right side hitter.

Since you obviously are playing with one setter who rotates around, you will always be opposite your setter on the court.

In the front, you will block and hit from the right side.

In the back, you will dig/defend/hit from the right side.

It's really a simple position to learn.

During serve/recieve while you're back row, you'll be pushed to the back line. You won't have to recieve the serve as often, but it will be your job to be vocal and call the serve in or out.

Yes, you will serve in games, just like any other player.

If you want me to send you the rotation diagram my coach gave us for 5-1 rotations, or have any other questions about the position, email me at niiicoley@yahoo.com

i'll get it to you in like, 30 seconds.
