What is a good time for a middle school 100 meter sprinter?

How about 200?

Also, can you give me some tips on how to improve my speed. I'm naturally fast but i don't train for track so I need a little info on the basics.

  2. The record for a middle school 100 meter dash is 11.04 seconds, held by Derek Tompkins at Union Vale Middle School.  A good time ranges from 12 seconds to under 14.5 seconds.

20.13 seconds is the supposed record for the 200 meter, set by Roy Martin of Roosevelt high school which is suspiciously low. Common good times range from 22-24 seconds.

To run faster, upper body strength is as important as leg strength.  Abdominals, shoulder, and back muscles should be strong. Before a race, strech well and hop on your toes a bit, which will increase your reaction time and muscle capability. When running, take long strides and pump your arms as horizontally as possible, as fast as you can. Don't try to pump them vertically (you're moving horizontally).  Lean forward a bit while running, and lean a lot and thrust out your chest when you cross the finish line.

Keep hydrated.  There's a rule: a 2% drop in hydration leads to a 10% drop in performance.

Keep practicing and good luck!  Hope this helped!

  3. I'm a naturally fast person to, and i am the 3rd fastest kid in my middle school. I'm not to sure about how to get faster , uhhh just run more so you get used to it like conditioning. And a good time for a middle schooler on the 100 is pproblemlike ssomewherearound 9- 11 sec's.
