  1. this is nuts...there should be a policy for this...I understand that they are older...but some are not mature and they can cause trouble on the way to the stop too....call the school then the school board and get as many parents on board with you too the more you are the better chances you get to get the stop changed

  2. Why don't you just wait with them at the bus stop?

  3. yes i believe its crazy however i dont think we are all stupid some of us just dont have the means to make alternative arrangements and some people are unsure of how to approach schools to have this problem changed

  4. I would call the school and tell them that this is bull and that you would like a bus stop a little closer. If they dont do anything then go to the school board. If you try hard enough they will moved the bus stop closer.

  5. One thing comes to mind....do you live in an addition where the roads are private roads and not part of the county?  If that's the case, that could be why the kids don't have a close bus stop.  I know in the corporation I drove for we didn't service private roads because of liability issues.  I know of one housing addition where the parents paid to have a security light installed at the bus stop and paid the monthly electric bill.  Seems reasonable.  It was for their kids, I see no reason why other tax payers should have to shoulder the burden.  Also, in our corporation, distance to a stop is determined (in town anyway) by whether there's a sidewalk or not.  If there were sidewalks, they set up group stops, and some kids did have to walk.  From my side of it, it was ridiculous to stop at a driveway....pick up a high school student.....roll 50 feet....stop and pick up another one....roll 50 feet....and pick up the next one...because there were no sidewalks they had to be picked up at their driveways.  Their properties connected, there was no reason to not pick them up at the property line, but it was not allowed.  Talk about frustrated motorists....the ones that had to follow me while I picked up in that area....thankfully it wasn't heavily travelled and I could usually pull over and let them around before I started picking up in that area.  But, you do seem to have the most feasible solution....you are being proactive and driving your students to school.  That way you know they are safe.

  6. yeah that sounds a bit much even for middle school kids. I have 3 boys in middle school (twins in 7th and one in 5th) and the bus picks up right in front of the house because we live on a main route and they don't expect them to walk on a main route.

  7. Its ridiculous. The council needs to put in closer bus stops or figure out some better way.
