  1. It may sound odd, but one of the best things you could do to start is play practice mode on a video game like NCAA football... You can pick the defense, put yourself on offense, and see what the different defensive schemes are trying to accomplish and where the holes are in cover 2, etc. Also you can get a feel for what routes are intended to beat what defenses.

It sounds silly but it really is a good simulation.

  2. This is reading coverages, the easy way.

Cover 1- You receivers are being played man-on-man. Usually characterized by a bump and run play by the Corner Backs. You want to throw it when they first make there cuts. Also look to throw it deep.

Cover 2- Once again, the Corner Backs will likely bump, but they will not run with your receivers. The weak spots are 10 yards down the field by the sidelines.

Cover 3- Characterized by CB being far off the ball. Weak spots are deep middle and 10 yards up the sideline on both sides

  3. i am with Derek. Its actually very good. I am going into the same grade, but I am not playing games. I am watching Tight Ends in the NFL. I also go to youtube.com and I look at some good Tight ends. Their build and everything. For a quarterback if you are speed then look maybe at Vick.

  4. You want to know how to read defenses?

    It's easy.

I will tell you ways to recognize a Cover 1, Cover 2, and Cover 3.

A Cover 1 will have one defender over the top and another lurking below.

A Cover 2 will have two defenders over the top. (Both safeties).

A Cover 3 will have three defenders over the top, usually two safeties and a cornerback.
