Middle school track 8th grade question

Question

I'm thinking about joining my 8th grade track team this up coming school year. I'm not sure on my times but in 5th grade I had a 7 min 11 second mile time but I'm not good at long distance and I think I would be better at short distance based on my mile time could I make my track team? I'm 13 now.

Yeah, most of the time everyone makes the team (unless you are REALLY REALLY bad) and everyone competes.  If you are good enough you can go on and compete at the regional and state levels and that is really the only time that they cut people because they want the best to run then.  There are also field events to consider if you don't really want to run.

yeah dude thats not that bad for a 5th grade time actually...but everyone makes the team and i think competes just make sure you try hard in it and dont give up...and youll never know what could happen

yeah thats a good time for a fifth grader.

and since your older you can probably go faster. and any time in the 6's is good for middle school
