The top scorer in the first innings for the visitors was opening batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sam-David-Robson-c88185, who collected 146 runs in his terrific knock. The seasoned campaigner played sensibly and didn’t play a single rash stroke. He smashed 15 fours in his heroic innings.
Robson had some support from the lower-order batsmen as well. The team lost a few early wickets in the match and was struggling at 90 for four at one stage of the innings.
However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/John-Andrew-Simpson-c67297, scored 52 and 65 in their respective innings, rescuing their team from trouble.

Essex’s skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Bryan-Foster-c65514, was also able to score a half-century, guiding his team’s total closer to 300. He played nicely along with the tail-enders and was dismissed after adding 58 runs to the total.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Corey-Collymore-c1283, who took two wickets in the innings and kept on pressurising the batsmen
with his accurate line and length.
Middlesex had to bat for just 10 overs in the day, but the team would have been disappointed with a loss of a wicket. The hero of the first innings, Robson, was unable to make an impression in his second outing and was sent back to the pavilion after adding
just seven runs to the total. His opening partner, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chris-Rogers-c1249 was unbeaten on 32 when the session was called off by the umpires.
