Middlesex 368/9d v Durham MCCU 25/2 (9.0 ov) - Durham MCCU trail by 343 runs with 8 wickets remaining in the 1st innings
Fans at Merchant Taylors' School Ground, Northwood, witnessed a high scoring match in the ongoing Marylebone Cricket Club University Matches between Middlesex and Durham MCCU on Saturday, March 31, on the first day of the three-day match.
Middlesex, who were put into bat by Durham MCCU, clobbered a massive tally of 368 runs for the loss of nine wickets before declaring their innings.
Later, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Durham-c782 played sluggishly as they posted just 25 runs for the loss of two wickets in nine overs at stumps.
Durham had a terrible start to their innings as they lost their first wicket without a run on the board and then suffered the loss of their second wicket with just seven runs on the board as number-three batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rishabh-Shah-c85439, fell after scoring five runs off ten deliveries.
The side now has to improve their scoring rate in order to create some sort of a winning chance against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Middlesex-c817 on the second day of the game, failing to do so will surely mean a loss in the game for them.
Meanwhile, earlier in the day, Middlesex got off to a flying start as openers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adam-London-c921 and Sam Robson belted an enormous opening stand of 86 runs before London was trapped in front of stumps on a delivery bowled by Jonathan Salt after scoring 30 runs.
Durham then shocked the batting side by grabbing another wicket after just a run, when http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chris-Rogers-c1249 faltered without scoring.
However, Middlesex then crept back in the game as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dawid-Malan-c1344 forged a daunting stand.
The two batsmen steered the side to 215 runs before the partnership finally came to an end when Malan lost his wicket after smashing 70 runs.
Later, Durham saw the back of Robson who belted a stupendous innings of 117 runs before his demise.
Middlesex’s lower-order then played well to help post a daunting total on the board. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gareth-Berg-c1457 was the final wicket to fall after which the side declared their innings.
