Middlesex v Somerset - County Championship Division One - Day 2 - Live Score and Update
Somerset 173 v Middlesex 321/2 (69.0 ov) - Middlesex lead by 148 runs with 8 wickets remaining in the 1st innings
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JL-Denly-c1703 gave a stupendous batting performance on the second day of play against Somerset in the ongoing County Championship Division One tournament by bolstering astounding knocks of 173 and 105 at Lord's, London.
The day began with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/C-Kieswetter-c1206 and JC Buttler took the field in order to hammer the bowling side into submission.
However, Middlesex bowler GK Berg was in no mood to let the batting side start their day on a high as he nabbed the wicket of Kieswetter before letting the batting team open their account on the second day.
With Kieswetter gone without adding a run to his overnight tally, Somerset were caught in a spot of bother, nonetheless, it was time for star all-rounder PD Trego to walk in the middle, keeping his team’s hopes alive.
However, Middlesex striker TJ Murtagh was not ready to let the batting side gain momentum as he nabbed the wicket of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jonathan-Clare-c1729 Buttler, the batsman also failed to score a run.
Then on the very next ball, he struck again by nabbing the wicket of C Overton, who also departed without scoring a run.
With three wickets down early in the day, the start was disastrous for Somerset. After things went awry for the batting side initially, they then lost another wicket after the addition of only three runs as they saw the demise of skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dawid-Malan-c1344 Thomas, who also found his way off the field without scoring a run.
With wickets falling at the other end, PD Trego, kept his cool and steadfast in a bid to keep the scoreboard ticking. He was the last wicket to fall after mustering an innings of 38 runs as Somerset managed to pull off 173 runs.
Their batting effort went in vain; as Middlesex’s batting ling-up staggered a brave face and bolted a mammoth tally of 321 runs for the loss of two wickets.
