Midfield duo out injured for Manchester United
Midfield duo Nani and Darren Fletcher were added to Manchester United's injury list during the team's 3–0 win over Bursaspor in the Champions League on Tuesday, 2 November.
Nani, who scored a controversial goal against Tottenham in the Premier League on Saturday, 30 October, was replaced by Ji-Sung Park with only 29 minutes gone in the game.
Fletcher, meanwhile, played for just over an hour and managed to score United's first goal before coming off for winger Bebe.
After the game, United boss Sir Alex Ferguson said both players are likely to miss United's league fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, 6 November.
"Nani has a groin injury and is out for Saturday and I think Darren will be out as well," he said. "That part has been disappointing but these things happen in football."
The two midfielders, who have both started nine of United's ten league games this season, will be sorely missed by Ferguson, who already has strikers Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney on his list of absentees.
But the manager will find a source of optimism in his younger players' recent performances.
Mexican forward Javier Hernandez has scored three goals in his last three appearances for the team, while wingers Bebe and Gabriel Obertan got their first European goals for United against Bursaspor.
Ferguson added that Anderson, another of his midfielders, is likely to sit out the game against Wolverhampton, but that Darren Gibson could return in time for the game.
"We may have Darron Gibson back after a bout of flu but Anderson has had a virus as well and I don't think he will be ready."
December a crucial month in the league
United are currently third in the table, trailing second-placed Arsenal on goal difference, with 20 points from ten games.
After the game against Wolverhampton, Ferugson's team face Manchester City, who are currently fourth, in a thrilling derby.
Next month, United will play two crucial league games in the league when they host Arsenal before taking on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
