Midland gxt-850 gets HOT!

Question

Just bought a pair of Midland GXT-850 2-way radios. When I put the some AA batteries in and turned them on, one of them became very hot on the bottom. The 2 posts on the bottom of the radio that charge the battery when in the charger became too hot to touch. I swapped batteries in the radios and turned them back on. Same problem with the same radio.
Any Ideas on what is wrong? Can it be fixed? Or return them?
