I purchased 2 sets of Midland rechargeable batteries with AC desktop and DC chargers Model BATT-5R Ni-MH for use in Midland 2 way radios Model GXT-550. These batteries accept and hold very little charge, even after leaving the radios on to deplete the batteries and then rechaging from an empty bank. They also vibrate when installed in the radios or when turning the radio on. Repeated removal of the batteries from the radios and replacement eventually caused the vibration to stop, but still won't hold a charge.
I've contemplated trying the DC charger but knowing something is wrong with the batteries (presumably, not the radios, since alkaline batteries show full power and don't vibrate) I'd rather just return the batteries/chargers for a refund. There is the possibility that the problem is with the desktop charger itself even though the charge lights are on when the radios are installed.
Are you aware of any reason why this would happen and more importantly is there a simple fix the consumer can employ, or do I need to return the charger/battery sets for credit? I hate to use alkaline/disposable batteries for environmental reasons and cost.
Thank you.
