Midnight Crooner, Blingo and Koast battle it out in the Oceanside Stakes at Del Mar
The annual meet at Del Mar is bound to be exciting with some big runners fighting for the big prizes in grand races. This event attracted a significant amount of attention and trainers John Sadler, John Shirreffs, and Bob Baffert will be running their
best runners on the track.
All three trainers have an opportunity to see who has the best runner in the Oceanside Stakes on 18th July, 2012, which will cover a distance of 1 mile.
Bob Baffert has entered the son of War Chant, Midnight Crooner, who seems to be in immensely good shape. Foaled by mare, Midnight Kiss, he recently triumphed in an Allowance Optional Claimer at the Betfair Hollywood Park, where he dominated the 1 mile
track and completed it in 1 minute and 34.40 seconds.
Sadler is entering with Koast, who he trains for Hronis Racing LLC. This sophomore seems to be in incredibly good shape as well, since he has claimed three victories out of his six starts and will be looking for another one.
Bred in Kentucky, the son of Lawyer Ron bagged the Allowance Optional Claimers at the Betfair Hollywood Park on 8th June, 2012, where he raced over a distance of six furlongs.  Since this race covers a distance of a mile, the
colt will be stretched out to take on the larger distance.
It will be a test to his stamina, but if he comes in his winning form that might not be a problem for him.
John Shirreffs is bringing, Blingo, to the track. The three-year-old gelding is owned by Mr. and Mrs. Jerome S. Moss.
The son of Artie Schiller, foaled by mare Wassifa, might have to work a little harder in this race and, tone up from his performance in the Grade 3 Affirmed Stakes where he finished fifth over 1 1/16 miles.
The three-year-old brilliantly tackled the 1 1/8 mile track in the La Puente Stakes at Santa Anita in April, 2012, where he defeated John Sadler’s charge, Vibrato Jazz, in 1 minute and 47.58 seconds.
Held on the opening day of the Del Mar meet, this race will establish which trainer has brought the best runners to this grand-event.
