I'm in a 'Debate' with someone... is the beginning of the day midnight, or is it the end of the day?

Example: the 18th at midnight. At that time is it one second before the 19th or 24 hours before the 19th.

Thanks all.

  1. BOTH!!!

  2. begining because military time it 00:00

  3. It's not midnight until the clock strikes twelve, so it's the beginning of the day.

  4. neither, it's the middle of the night; thus the name :)

  5. Midnight is the end of the day.  On a 24 hour clock of one day in a day of a life,  the 24th hour is the end of that day.  Midnight or 12:00 am is the 24 hours on the clock.  ( 24:00)   One second after midnight however is start of new day.   -  00:01 on the clock.

  6. 12:00 midnight is 0000 hours, so this makes midnight the very beginning of the next day.  There is no 2400 hours which again says that midnight is the beginning of the next day.

  7. when using military time midnight is 0:00 meaning midnight is the beginning of the day.

  8. It is the exact point in time when one day ends and the next day begins.

  9. midnight is definitely the start of the day..i have a friend who has twins born not only different days but different millenniums as twin 1 was born 11.49pm DEC 31 1999 and twin 2 was born at 12.07 am January 1 2000...=)

  10. The answer is "Both".

The day begins and ends at midnight.

The concept of something being two things at once shouldn't be that hard to understand.

Think of hot and cold.  Now think of warm.

Warm requires a little hot and a little cold.

    Warm is midnight.

Midnight requires Night and Day, Evening and Morning.

  11. ~~~~I have to say it is one second before the 19th. It is the end of the night. It is not the 19th until 1 second after midnight.~~~~

  12. I work at a hospital where we use military time.  Military time for midnight is 2400 and it is considered a.m..  Midnight in regular time is 12:00 A.M. which is morning.  12:00PM is afternoon.  Every time has an AM and PM.  Midnight is no exception.  We say "Happy New Year" at the stroke of midnight, not one second past.

  13. I'm pretty sure that 12:00 AM is the beginning. 11:59 PM is the end. Something like that.

  14. the  beginning of the day

  15. lol that's one question noone could really tell.but i think it's the end,since 12:00am is included in the 24hour mark of a day.now that's only my opinion.  :D

  16. Midnight is the start of the day

  17. Each day begins at 00:00:00 and ends at 23:59:59, so the strike of midnight is the first second of the next day.

  18. At the exact second of midnight you are both wrong. The time and days are entirely wrong. It's like saying if I stand on a line am I on the right side or the left side? I'm not on either side but I am between them. If it is one second after midnight or even one millimillimilli second or any other tiny fraction after midnight then it is the niniteenth. it is one second into the 19th and 24 hours before the 20th. It's like a twilight thingy a paradox. but it isn't either. It is something in itself. But when would that exact second be? It would be impossible to ever get or imagine. As impossible as imagining the mddle number of an infinite set of numbers it is impossible yet somehow possible.

  19. 23:00:59 hours/ or 24:00:00  would be the last of one day.

00:00:01 hours is the beginning of the next day.

    Military time.

  20. Midnight is the end of the 18th AND the beginning of the 19th

  21. Its the beginning of the day.
