Midsummer Sun set to shine in Conditions Stakes
Midsummer Sun will shine with full resplendence in the Betfred Mobile Sports Conditions Stakes, a Class 3 contest that is going to take place today, April 28 at Ripon racecourse. The action will start with effect from 4:40 (GMT).
For the prize cheque of £8,093, the Sir Henry Cecil-trained bay colt will compete against 4 rivals named as Dawn Twister, Steuben, Troopingthecolour and Ibicenco. These runners will be required to cover the distance of 1 mile, 4 furlongs and 10 yards on
the soft track.
Midsummer Sun possesses 50 percent success ratio. The four-year-old novice runner started his career with a fifth position on April 13, 2011. He beautifully managed to break his maiden in the very next race on May 19. He was a favourite for both of these
events.
Running with a 7-4 favourite band around his waist, the talented young colt elegantly notched up first position in a tough competition on September 9.
In his last outing entitled as Freebetting.CO.UK Handicap on April 14, 2012, the maverick sprinter again finished first by a reasonable margin.
On the basis of all these glaring feats, the bookmakers have staked their money on Midsummer Sun. The capabilities he owns are enough to assume that he will be able to come up to the expectations of the market.
However, Troopingthecolour can cause an upset in the race. The Steve Gollings-trained bay gelding accomplished a fabulous hat-trick from April 9 to July 7, 2011. The 11-race veteran horse moved ahead to finish 5th and 4th in the two
subsequent races. He has 4 classic triumphs to his name.
Steuben is also likely to do well in the Stakes. After breaking his maiden in September 2009, Barney Curley’s gelding finished 3rd in each of the two preceding races while being a favourite. He is going to run today for the first time since June
2010.
Though the competition will have many twists and tough points but Midsummer Sun is likely to keep his head high convincingly in face of all the challenges. Good luck to the young favourite colt.
