Midwesterners have an accent? I'm from Indiana, and after having moved to Florida I don't notice much difference in speech patterns.

Agreed that New England accents are quite annoying.

no, it is considered the standard American accent, that is why there are so many call centers in Iowa and Kansas. I would not call an accent annoying, but definitely noticeable, such as the Minnesota accent(see the movie Fargo), or the Chicago accent ( see SNL Gwayne Swarski super fans), the infamous Southern accent (Squidbillies) and the Boston Accent
