Miesha Tate excited over Dana White’s announcement of adding WMMA to UFC – UFC Special
Miesha Tate, Women’s Strikeforce bantamweight fighter, believes the recent announcement made by Dana White, president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, will take women’s mixed martial arts to the heights of success. Tate, who was previously disappointed
when White repeatedly rejected the notion of adding WMMA to the show, is now satisfied with the president’s call.
“I hate to say I told you so I guess I just always knew it would always happen because the more and more I watch the ladies fight and how hard we work. I'm really glad to see it finally materializing honestly a little sooner than I anticipated. But, I think
we're definitely ready to take it on,” said Tate in an interview with the MMA Fight Corner recently.
White has been much impressed with Strikeforce’s Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey’s run as an unbeaten fighter in the division. Rousey has been the major factor of influence to convince the president. She is known for submitting her opponents in
the first round with an armbar submission.
“I think absolutely it had to influence Dana's opinion that it's not just Ronda Rousey that's out there that's able to carry the whole women's division, that there's more of us that can fight,” Tate added.
For now, Tate is hopeful that WMMA will soon become a part of the UFC. Not just her, several other women fighters are hoping to step up in the sport, once it becomes a part of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
In a recent interview, Dana White came up saying his plans for the UFC are unlimited, and they will be adding much more to the show in order to take the sport to the heights of success. Not just WMMA, White is also very much into bringing super-fights in
UFC. He is right now focusing on making a fight between middleweight champion Anderson Silva and welterweight titlist Georges St-Pierre happen.
In addition, White is also looking forward to a fight between Anderson Silva and light heavyweight titlist Jon Jones. With the inclusion of super-fights and WMMA in UFC, the show will definitely hit resistance in no time.
