Migeul Luis Tabuena cards a 68 in R1
The Asian Games men's golf tournament commenced today in Guangzhou, China placing Migeul Luis Tabuena at the top of the leader board with a lead of one shot.
According to latest reports, the golfer from Philippines carded a superb 68 in the first round of the tournament and thus held the lead of one stroke above all other competitive arrangements.
From what the scorecard tells, the 16-year-old golfer played an amazing game where he carded a total of 5 birdies. The amateur player thus managed a good lead and was hit by only one bogey at the 15th hole.
The bogey however didn’t falter the 16-year-old’s game in any way and handed him a total of four under the total par. Tabuena’s score placed Mithun Kaluthanthrige, Kim Meen-Whee and Lee Jae-Hyeok with a stroke’s deficit to cover up. The Philippines’ golfer
has 1 shot advantage over the Sri Lankan golfer and the pair from Korea.
Further down the leader board, a 2 shot disadvantage resides with Hung Chien-yao and Rashid Khan. The golfer from Taiwan and the Indian are standing 2 strokes back the leader. Among other golfers, the Japanese Hideki Matsuyama had a tough call of 75 in the
event's first round.
Counting those who achieved a score under the par on the Dragon Lake Golf Course, they amount to only six in number.
Among those who went above the par, they carded an amount the golf course had never seen before. From Afghanistan, Ali Ahmad Fazel managed to go over par with a 58 thus a 130. His fellow compatriot, Hashmattulah Sarwaree, however went a bit low on the par
and carded a 36 over par that was shared with Bayarkhu Yanjiv from Mongolia as well.
Coming back to Tabuena, he said that he knows how to be patient, but his driving abilities definitely need to be worked on. The golfer from Philippines explained that even if he scored 5 birdies today, his goal is to try to do much better than his performance
in first round.
At the runner up position, Kaluthanthrige is extremely happy with his 69 performance probably because he still has some rounds to cover up the one stroke deficit. He said that he had a great day today and he is extremely proud of his performance.
From the women’s team, the Chinese team is leading the event with an impressive 6 under par. The leading team is also one stroke ahead from the contender from South Korea, Kim Hyun-Soo.
