Might a more appropriate name for Venus fly traps be "stinky siren fly traps"?

When I say stinky, I'm referring to the manner in which they attract insects, I don't mean it in the pejorative sense.

  2. As a person that has been in enclosures with hundreds of VFts, I have to say...

    To this human they do not stink.

    Obviously the insects that are attracted to them don't think they stink or they would be repelled. Think citronella.

    So even if you did think that this plant stunk the insects do not and there for the name would be inappropriate.
