Mighty Clarets likely to win Glass Times Handicap
Mighty Clarets has got a very good chance of claiming the Glass Times Handicap at Haydock in England on Thursday, July 5, 2012. A cash prize of £2,264 has been set for the winner of the class-5 event.
Due to some overnight rain, the conditions have become good to soft and there are some more showers forecasted today. There will be a total of 16 runners up against each other in the 1 mile, 2 furlong and 95 yard event, which is scheduled to start at 14:20
GMT.
The track conditions will suit the running style of Mighty Clarets and if it rains more, he will definitely dominate the proceedings at Haydock. He is priced 6 to 1 and the punters will risk a lot of bets on him.
The five-year-old gelding made his debut back in 2009 and he was unable to make an impression in his first race, finishing ninth in it. The best he could manage was a third place finish that year, but improved his performances afterwards.
The start to the 2010 season was extremely good for the Barry Leavy’s trainee, as he won the first race he took part in that year. He was given a starting price of 3 to 1 back then and finished on top of the table by half a length. He went onto win more
events in that season and grew in confidence.
Whipper’s son out of Collected has participated in seven races in 2012 and his performances in them have been good. However, he managed to win just one of them and needs to be a lot more consistent in order to catch the attention of everyone.
In his most recent race, Mighty Clarets finished runner up after a thrilling fight with the winner. He was not rated as the favourite to win back then, but still gave a tough time to his rivals.
Overall, the seasoned runner has participated in 32 races, winning five of them whereas finished runner up on six times. In addition to that, he has secured the third place on seven occasions. He will be ridden by Sean Levey, who has enjoyed some success
at this level, but is out of form at the moment.
