I get migraines with auras but without the headache, is there any drugs out there that can make the auras disappear, when I get them it will run its course twice making it last almost a hour. It gets very frustrating and I do not want to take something for it everyday, just when I get them. thanks

  1. According to present medical knowledge there are no known drugs that can treat the aura part of the migraine, Those who are getting visual auras, specially temporary loss of vision, floating spots or zig-zag lines should get a complete examination done at least once to exclude more serious disease. The risk of stroke is higher in them.

Preventive measures and lifestyle changes are the most effective.

    1. Reduce stress and anxiety

    2. Avoid triggering food--eg.cheese, redwine, caffeine, chocolates etc.

    3. Avoid fatigue

4  Birth control pills and Hormonal treatment can increase the attacks

    5. Avoid sensory stimuli, like bright light, loud noise.

Retire to a dark and quiet place when you get the first hint of an impending attack.

Meditation can  reduce the frequency of attacks and some have been successful with hypnotherapy
