Miguel Angel Jimenez aims to change history by winning the Ballantine's Championship
Miguel Angel Jimenez knows that he is not doing his best in the current year, but he is aiming big for the upcoming European Tour event, the Ballantine's Championship.
The tournament is scheduled to be held from April 26 to 29, at the venue of the Blackstone Golf Club, Icheon in Seoul, South Korea.
Jimenez was the runner-up in last year's edition. He was defeated by Lee Westwood, who scored a 12-under 276 in the €2,205,000 event.
Jimenez finished one stroke behind the leader, as he competed well for the title. He was upset after losing a great chance of winning the title in 2011.
"The last round (in 2011) I had some chances and I played beautiful second shots over the pin and then land to a downhill lie," Jimenez said while speaking at the Blackstone Golf Club.
"But it was a nice experience. Happy to be here again and hope to make it a little better than last year".
The 48-year-old Spanish golfer is aiming high for the 2012 episode. On the other hand, he also desires to be impressive throughout the four days, so that he can earn a leading position on the leaderboard.
"My game is not its best but I'm still hitting good," Jimenez said. "If I can get that sweet combination, the combination of getting to the hole and holing putts at the right moment, but right now it's floating away".
"It's not getting on the right pace. But it's coming and I hope the good results come back this week".
He has played many events in the current year and recorded inconsistent finishes. His best finish of 2012 was at Open de Andalucía Costa del Sol, where he secured the 7th position.
He played the World Golf Championships - Accenture Match Play Championship and again finished in the top-10 on the leaderboard.
Jimenez was only impressive in these two events, whereas he faced difficulties scoring in the rest. Aiming high for the Ballantine's Championship is impressive, but delivering the best against world's top-ranked stars is an uphill task.
He has to make some extra efforts to gain a lead over his rivals. If he scores more birdies and fewer bogeys, he can finish on the top and earn the winning share.
