Miguel Cabrera appreciates Detroit Tigers consistent pitching rotation – MLB Update
Detroit Tigers Miguel Cabrera is appreciating his team-mates especially pitchers as it is their hard work which ousted the New York Yankees with bitter humiliation in American League Championship Series.
"Yeah, we did it, It's an unbelievable feeling. ... Four more wins, guys. Four more wins. Unbelievable. It's why we're here right now because our pitching, Wow!" Cabrera said.
The Tigers’ pitchers certainly outclassed the Yankees in every area of play. They kept the Yankees' upfront batters under pressure and won in style.
From Game 1 to 4, all four Tigers' starters did extremely well and did not allow the Yankees to bounce back in the series at any stage.
Game 1 of ALCS, Tigers' starting pitcher Doug Fister won the game for his team. He pitched 6.1 innings and received six hits without any run.
In Game 2 of ALCS, Anibal Sanchez rattled the Yankees when he tossed seven innings and received only three hits and struck-out seven.
During Game 3 of ALCS saw Justin Verlander rattling the Yankees' upfront offence when he pitched over eight innings spell and received only one run as he literally won the game for the Tigers.
On Thursday, October 18 at Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan, the Tigers' starter Max Scherzer opened the game. He pitched 5.2 innings and received only run and received two hits on his 1.59 ERA. He struck-out ten and remained consistent on the mound during his entire spell.
“I really had my changeup and my slider going, When I can combine that with my fastball, that's what makes me effective," said Max Scherzer.
After the game, the Yankees' starter C.C. Sabathia also admitted that their opponents were more consistent with their pitching.
"They're a good team with dominant pitching. Give those guys credit -- they pitched great, And we didn't match them. We pitched good, but not great. They pitched great," Sabathia said.
Yankees' Alex Rodriguez also said, “They threw the ball really well, They outplayed us in every facet of the game and they were the better team."
Sabathia finished his 3.2 innings spell allowing eleven hits and six runs along with two homers. He struck-out three but still his ERA rose to 12.27.
