Miguel Cabrera congratulated by Hall of Famers on winning Triple Crown Award – MLB Update
In some ways, it has been a memorable season of Major League Baseball. Third baseman Miguel Cabrera became only the second Tigers’ hitter to win the Triple Crown Award, a feat that is rarer than a perfect game.
Here is what other players, pundits and analysts have been saying in the wake of Cabrera’s Triple Crown triumph. Frank Robinson, who won this prestigious award almost 46-years ago, congratulated Cabrera on winning the Triple Crown.
Cabrera has been outstanding since the start of the season. Not only he showed great discipline and composure, he also played to his potential in pressure situations. It was a challenging year for Tigers’ third baseman.
Hitting home-runs and RBI’s consistently is not an easy thing to do but Cabrera never lost his focus and got the prize he deserved. His sensational hitting streak helped the Tigers win their second straight American League Central Division title and now
they have an excellent chance to end their World Series drought.
Carl Yastrzemski also extended his sincere congratulations to Miguel Cabrera on his triumph.
"I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to Miguel Cabrera on winning the Triple Crown. I am glad that he accomplished this while leading his team to the American League Central title. I was fortunate enough to win this award in 1967 as part of
the Red Sox Impossible Dream Team. I am sure Frank Robinson joins me in commending Miguel in reaching this significant milestone in his career,” said Yastrzemski.
"It is an honor to congratulate Miguel Cabrera on earning the Triple Crown, a remarkable achievement that places him amongst an elite few in all of baseball history,” said Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig.
It is an amazing accomplishment for a man who is just 29-years old. Cabrera will be extremely proud of what he has managed to achieve so far this year but the job is far from done.
He will be looking to continue his consistency and all around excellence during the playoffs as well to give Tigers a chance to claim the biggest prize of them all; the World Series title.
