Miguel Cabrera hoping to win Triple Crown Award – MLB Detroit Tigers News
Tigers’ third baseman Miguel Cabrera is looking in terrific form ahead of the 2012 post season. It seems the hard hitting striker has an excellent chance to complete baseballs’ Triple Crown. Tigers’ starting pitcher Justin Verlander did it in 2011 and now
another player from Detroit is in a position to claim this glory.
Verlander led the American League in strike-outs, ERA and wins when he claimed the Triple Crown Award.
Not only does Cabrera have exceptional hitting skills but he also has the ability to single handedly win games for his team. It is relatively easier for the pitchers to achieve such a feat as compared to the hitters but Cabrera has shown the baseball world
what he is really capable of. His ability to hit home-runs under pressure is what makes him an asset for the Tigers.
His batting average is also the best in the American League right now. Tigers’ fans will also be very happy with what they have seen from Cabrera this season. Although the Tigers the dangerous Prince Fielder in their batting line-up, it is Cabrera who has
fuelled their run to the top of American League Central Division standings. But the job is not done for Cabrera as yet.
Tigers still have a lot of work to do to win the second straight AL Central Division title. What Cabrera has achieved this season is quite astonishing but his MVP season would not be of too much value if the Tigers don’t reach the World Series finals.
What is most impressive about Cabrera is his dedication towards his duties. Despite having an ankle injury, he is not showing any signs of slowing down. Cabrera, who has played first base more often than not, was forced to play at this position to accommodate
Prince Fielder.
However, after what he has done to the Major League Baseball pitchers this year, Jim Leyland may send him back to his original position of first base. It will be interesting to see if Cabrera can continue his superb hitting form over the next couple of months
to help the Tigers win the World Series title after almost three decades.
