According to a leading sport website, Detroit Tigers newly assigned third baseman Miguel Cabrera is ready for the upcoming regular season. The hard hitting Cabrera is one of the key members of Tigers’ side. Since joining the Tigers, Cabrera has given his
fans plenty to cheer about.
The guy has looked in superb touch since the start of 2012 Spring Training of Major League Baseball. Hitting home runs and RBI”s in his few spring season games, he is certainly showing the comfort level he is feeling right now.
The 28 year old was hit under his right eye by a ball that bounced awkwardly. A shot from Hunter Pence forced Cabrera to leave the field. It was later revealed that he had stitches on his face to stop the blood flow.
The sources further added that Cabrera is feeling much better now and he is feeling very optimistic about the upcoming regular season. If Cabrera can stay healthy and fit for the entire next season, the Tigers will have an excellent chance to make it all
the way to the World Series.
Hitting 30 home runs and 105 RBI’s, Cabrera played a key role in taking his side to the American League Central title glory last season. However, as there was not enough assistance for Cabrera in batting department of the game, the Tigers failed to reach
the World Series. Cabrera played as a first baseman last season.
“He’s an easy going, down to earth guy — fit in just fine,” Avila said said of Cabrera. “Our clubhouse is pretty easy to get along with. The one thing about our team is everybody likes each other. We have a good group of guys.”
However, to accommodate Prince Fielder at first base this season, Cabrera is expected to perform third base duties. It will be interesting to see if the champion can help the Tigers achieve their desired goals in the regular season and the playoffs.
While Cabrera may not the best from defensive prospective, he certainly brings a great value to the table with his sensational hitting. Tigers Manager and General Manager Jim Leyland will also be hoping to see Cabrera do what he is best at; hard hitting.
