Miguel Cabrera’s double RBIs help Detroit Tigers defeat Baltimore Orioles 10-6 - MLB Update
Detroit Tigers’ first baseman, Miguel Cabrera had a tremendous day with the bat as he went 2-for-3 with an average of .341 and struck two RBIs including a solo homer in the Tigers’ 10-6 win against the Baltimore Orioles at Comerica Park, Detroit on September
25.
Tigers added their initial couple of runs at the bottom of first inning to get a 2-0 lead. Cabrera struck a two-run homer towards left-field and Delmon Young scored one run to give a solid start to the Tigers. Jake Fox singled off left-field and Vladimir
Guerrero ground out to third base. Nolan Reimold hit a grounder into double play, short-stop to second base and second to first base while Fox got out at second base.
Similarly, Jhonny Peralta and Ryan Raburn both ground out while Alex Avila popped out without taking even a single run at the bottom of the second inning. Tigers added one run in the third inning to raise their lead 3-0. Young reached towards short-stop
on an infield single and Brandon Inge contributed a single run. Magglio Ordonez occupied second base to end the third.
Fourth inning was not going the batter’s way as they struggled against the fastballs. Brad Penny pitched just over five innings with an ERA of 5.30 and had two strike-outs. He gave away three runs, five hits, three walks and three earned runs on his 96 pitches.
In the fifth inning, Orioles blasted three runs to tie the game but Tigers also smashed three quick runs to take a 6-3 lead at the end of the fifth inning. Fox, Reimold and Pedro Florimon each singled to complete a three-run campaign for Baltimore. On the
other side, Victor Martinez bunted a three-run homer towards left-field while Austin Jackson and Cabrera both added two consecutive runs for the Tigers.
Detroit again smashed three runs at the bottom of the sixth inning to advance their lead 9-3. Don Kelly homered to right-field while Peralta and Raburn both contributed two runs jointly. During the eighth, Orioles smashed three runs while Tigers were able
to score one run but increased their lead 10-6.
Reimold hit a three-run homer to centre-field while Robert Andino and Fox both posted two collective runs. Conversely, Peralta homered towards left-field to give the Tigers a convincing lead. However, Detroit levelled the four-game series 2-2 after beating
the Orioles comfortably.
