Miguel Cotto expecting $30 million to fight Floyd Mayweather - Boxing news
As reported, Miguel Cotto will be receiving a $30 million purse to fight Floyd Mayweather on May 5, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Los Angeles, Nevada.
This reveals one more facet as to why Miguel Cotto, the current WBA (super) light middleweight champion, dumped Manny Pacquiao. Now, Cotto on brawling against Floyd Mayweather Junior is bound to get a huge substantial amount of $30 million.
Miguel Cotto, Manny Pacquiao, and Floyd Mayweather Junior have been a part of a series of events that garnered much attention of boxing fans around the world yet could not materialize since a lot was on stake than what it seemed like. Miguel was on the list
of the four men who were advised by Bob Arum to Manny Pacquiao.
The Mexicutioner was bound to fight any one of them, three men later on forfeited and apologised in one way or another as they had other commitments. One of those names was Miguel Cotto who not only said no to Manny camp’s weight deduction demand but further
went ahead and is now in the finalisation stage of negotiations with Floyd.
Everyone was saying that it was just the weight matter that provoked the Puerto Rican to thumb down the Fighting Congressman but now another reason is evident from the tiding that the expected revenue earned by the 31-year-old Junito is far more significant
than what could have been offered by the duo of Manny and Bob.
Sources have revealed that Miguel and Floyd are close to finalise a deal with the stipulation of sharing the revenue at the ratio of 65/35 which will eventually make Junito the receiver of approximately $30 million purse. Miguel Cotto and Floyd will take
on each other at the infamous Madison Square Garden arena situated in Las Vegas Nevada.
The two men will clash for a total 12 rounds and the expected date is none other than May 5, 2012. The bout will have Cotto’s WBA Super World light middleweight title on the line. Miguel will enter the squared ring for the 40th time. Floyd, on the other
hand will take on Cotto as his 43rd opponent.
Pretty Money Boy Floyd is renowned for his impressive knock out ability. He has been in 42 bouts, came out victorious in all, and gathered 26 of his wins by knocking the opponent’s senses out. Miguel though lacks in experience but only a bit. He has won
37 of his 39 brawls and has lost to just two men.
Above all, his knock out ratio is bit better than Floyd. Miguel does have a chance to retain his title but only if he efficiently uses his 76.92% knockout percentage.
