  1. Cotto was moved up the ranks slowly and deliberately.  He certainly wasn't like a Holyfield or Oscar that started fighting elite level almost immediately.  He is just recently fighting the best.  At Jr. Welterweight he missed Hatton and Tzsyu.  Tzsyu would have been a stretch but he surely could have fought the very best in Hatton before moving up.  He fought Mosley when Mosley was on the decline.  He hasn't fought the very best at welterweight yet Margarito, Clottey, Mayweather and Williams.  He is now starting too.  I'm not as impressed as most people.  I give him credit for fighting Margarito though.

  2. Gotta agree with my man Blog. Cotto fights all the top fighters and that's something that even Floyd wouldn't do. Margarito had been chasing Floyd for years and never got a fight with him, but Cotto welcomes Margarito's challenge. . Pacquiao is probably the only other fighter that you can say has fought the best available competition out there. He fought a trilogy with Erik Morales. two fights with Marco Antonio Barerra and two fights with Juan Manuel Marquez. That's a helluva resume and that's why Manny is the best P4P fighter in the sport IMO. I think Cotto will continue to seek out the best fighters because he wants to be a great fighter I believe.

  3. He has fought the best competition.   He is fighting Margarito & then I would say the next one should be Paul Williams & maybe Shane Mosley again.   I would love to see him destroy Oscar De La Hoya!!!

  4. cotto always fights the best out there, with the exception of gomez.  everyone who he needs to fight to be the P4P champ ducks him. (Mayweather and DLH)

  5. Got to believe Miguel doesn't duck anyone, he is far and away the best welterweight out there, and Margarito is pretty much Cotto's last obstacle to that mythical P4P title that everyone bestowed on Mayweather for so long.  Only Pacquiao or Pavlik can even argue they should rate higher than Miguel right now, and should Miguel beat Antonio Margarito, he pretty much wins the argument.

  6. Cotto Should drop 7 lbs and Manny should gain 5 lbs and they should fight at 140's. That would be great for boxign because both guys have a huge fanbase.

  7. Cotto's team has managed his career perfectly so far. He used to be a one dimensional fighter with many flaws in his defence. Except for Mosley, many of the fighters he faced were perfectly suited for his slow and methodical style of body punching.

Things will change when he confronts Margarito. This guy is a true Mexican warrior in his prime, and extremely hungry. Expect fireworks, but it won't last long because Margarito's style is fast and furious, while Cotto's hooks to the body only takes effect in the later rounds.

Pacman had by far the tougher competition. Mexicans normally rule the lower weight classes, and he challenged all the top Mexican warriors from featherweight to lightweight.

  8. Only Manny P comes close or could actually go above cotto. Pavlik has only beaten miranda and taylor as real competition goes . Manny is not beaten competition heis destroying these guys.

  9. Margarito... i think was the right match. hope cotto KO in 9 rounds but its going to be  a hard fight .the Ricardo Torres its the man for a remach if he moves up in weight  ... mayorga will be a pretty interesting fight

  10. Im glad you put this up. Cotto is good and have been destroying guy's but top Welters. Lets put the record up. This is at Welter. Show me were you get top 4 Welter in this line up? We can make the guy's he fought were good but have to ask yourself some question about the guys he fought at Welter. How long was he on top? How long did he hold the belt? Who did he fight to get his belt?

Judah---coming off two lost, to hard guy's

Quintana----Had a undefeated record for fighting nobody guy's, over hyped and never been a force in the Welter division. Besides beating Williams, what other top Welter have he put on his resume? Williams prove Quintana caught him on a off night.

Mosley---past his prime but not to be over looked. I give Cotto credit but was a close dicison.

Gomez---If you want to put that on the charts.

Jr Welter--Torres, Paul Malignaggi, Corley, Lovemore and Sosa. Who did these guy's beat. I give you Paul and maybe corley. On this whole list, I can give him credit for at least 3 to 4 guy's if that at both weights together. Cotto is good but it's not like he's clearing the Welter division. Judah is a true Jr. Welter, Quintana is a true Welter fighting nobody's and Mosley. You still have Margo present Jul 26, Clottey, Williams, Cintron just have him on his resume and Berto down the line. When he start putting x but these guy's, come in talk to me.
