Question:

Miguel Cotto the BEST fighter Today?

Does anyone else agree that Miguel Cotto is the best fighter today?

Pacquiao got the P4P throne because of his record. He is an unskilled boxer with hard punches. I wasn't impressed with his last fight. I saw someone comment about the HBO commentators idolizing Pacquiao, and I believe that's true. They call his work "ARTISTIC", when there is nothing artistic about the way Pacquiao fights.

  1. I wouldn't call a 4 time boxing champion "unskilled". A hard punch can only get you so far.  A boxer needs skill to be a champ 4 times esp fighting the men Pacquiao fought(JMM, Morales, Barrera, Diaz), they weren't pushovers. But that's just me.

You are entitled to your opinions and I am to mine. I thought Pacquiao fought a great fight; he made Diaz (the 135 champ, mind you) look like an amateur.

  2. Cotto is good but not the best fighter today. In the welter division, you have Paul Williams, Clottey, Margo and Berto. He need to clear the division and we can start talking about the best fighter. Mosley and Judah are best guy's on his resume. Quintana didn't beat nobody and got a undefeated record for beating nobody's. Margo is a good start for Cotto. Cotto doesn't have a lost but not ready to jump the gun. Cintron only good for beating nobody's but still like him. Judah is washup but can be dangersous. Mosley past prime and Oscar. Quintana a stepping stone. Cotto is undefeated and best in the Welter now. Berto has the belt but still has to prove he can rumble with the big boy's. That's when he will get his credit from the fans, media etc.

Margo---36-5 give anyone a long night.

Paul Williams---34-1 can give anyone problems, need to mature a little and think he learned.

    Clottey----34-2 over looked and dangerous.

    Berto----22--0 havent fought anybody yet.

  3. right here like I said before and I will say again he is the only fighter to have 3 of his previous fighters retire due to the amount of punishment he gives on the body

  4. i like him and he is good but what has he done to become the best boxer today..

Hatton done more tho Cotto is the better boxer and won more

Manny has done 10 times more and better all round

    same as  Floyd

Oscar done more and will bE tougher than Mosley

Joe c has done more not much tho

he beat a 35 year old Mosley no way is Mosley as good as he was 5 or 10 years ago  it was close i say a draw was rite or Cotto by a point. so does this mean if Mosley he was 27 would he beat Cotto

Zabb every top welter has beat him but still is a good boxer tho.

so  i like him and rate cotto allot but sorry ask me in 3 years time and i may say yes . he not done a great deal to day and is still in Tito shadow

  5. no i wouldnt say he is the best as he aint even peaked yet, we will see what happens with him and margarito, kelly pavlik is probably one of the most exciting fighters out there today and also pac man, even amir khan, but cotto is just a brawler like so many other boxers, all it will take for cotto is for him to get knocked out once and his career will be over basically

  6. Cotto is really good and a win over Margo would solidify him. I also think that he would destroy Williams on the inside, his body is too big of a target to miss and Cotto is efficient with his punches. Elmer is delusional to think that Oscar can beat Cotto! Did you see what Forbes did to Oscars face ?? A light hitting stevie had Oscar looking like he fought with a true welterweight champ! Cotto will destroy DLH and make him retire as well. The punishment he dishes out is too much for anyone to bear, especially Oscar at this point in his career.

  7. Pacquiao in def #1, he doesn't just hit hard, he is extremely fast and his head movement makes him extremely hard to hit.  He has defeated top guys in the classes he's fought in, (future HOF's) CONVINCINGLY.  He reminds me a little of tyson's style early in his career, quick head movement, followed by quick powerful combos.  Cotto is a good fighter but I think he needs to prove himself against a top fighter in their prime, it just sucks that it has always been Mayweather in the classes he's fought in until now.  He needs to beat Margo and Williams now to be considered, if he does it convincingly he will be considered #1.  Can't have more fights like against Mosely where SOME people thought he lost, and others thought he won.

  8. He's one of the best up & coming fighters.   Pacquiao is the best right now since Floyd retired.   Paul Williams is a good fighter also & him & Cotto are in the same weight class.  A convincing win over Margarito & then Paul Williams could have Cotto leapfrog a lot of fighters on the p4p list.   Pacquiao, Calzaghe & Pavlik are my top 3.   Calzaghe has a tough one ahead of him & he actually refused to fight Pavlik.  If Calzaghe beats Jones Jr I would like to see him fight Pavlik that would solidify one of these two undefeated fighters legacy's.

  9. Yea Cotto is the best boxer today. He gots that killer uppercut and that scary concentration.

  10. yeah Cotto is the BEST fighter today because , he got a great record and have beat title holders , the fight that made me think cotto is a badazz is the fight with shane mosely , i give shane alot of props , he will fall under my top 3 boxers, and  cotto manage to outbox mosely! that was really impressive , and i thought Cotto was going to get eaten alive

  11. Nah.  #1 is Pavlik, #2 is Paquio.  Then it's everyone else.  I'll make a little prediction for you.  Cotto beats Margherita, and then gets KO'd against Dela Hoya in the fall.

  12. Pacquiao did box artistically, both physically and mentally. It wasnt his technical skill but the way he used his speed and power. He knew when to stay in and out of the pocket against Diaz. With that said

I have cotto at numbe 3 with Juan Manuel Marquez tied with Pacquiao for the pound for pound list (my list anyways).

If cotto would be number 1 he would have to beat the S**t out of Margarito , Paul williams and possibly De la Hoya in THE most dominating fashion. Im talking about knock outs, pure straight out KNOCKOUTS.
