Miguel Cotto to take on Antonio Margarito in December 2011 – Boxing news
Founder and chief Top Rank, Robert ‘Bob’ Arum has said that Puerto Rican boxer, Miguel Angel Cotto Vazquez and the Mexican-American, Antonio Margarito Montiel are coming face to face in a 12-round rematch on December 3, 2011 at the Madison Square Garden
in New York.
Arum said, “...Miguel Cotto against Antonio Margarito and it will probably be on Dec 3. Antonio Margarito's eye is 100 percent.”
The Orthodox stance, Cotto fought 38 of his total fights of which he won 36 competitive bouts including 29 wins by scoring knockout decisions in his professional boxing career.
The reigning WBA Super Welterweight Champion, Miguel Cotto is currently the WBA World Light Middleweight champion. The Light Middleweight and Welterweight contender, Cotto claimed the title when he won a technical knockout decision fighting against Yuri
Foreman on June 5, 2010 at the Yankee Stadium in New York.
The 30-year-old, Cotto made the successful defence of his title when he scored another technical knockout decision winning against Ricardo Mayorga on December 3, 2010 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
The younger brother of contender Jose Miguel Cotto and cousin of Abner Cotto, Miguel Cotto and the former WBA, IBF, and WBO Welterweight champion, Antonio Margarito has been into the ring against each other before that in 2008 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena
in Las Vegas.
Cotto lost a technical knockout decision and his WBA Welterweight title in the process as his first ever loss in his professional boxing career.
