  1. I am not Floyd's biggest fan and i agree with a lot of people that he can be boring at times but Mayweather would most likely win. I think Cotto would give him a good fight but FM is just too darn quick. Both hands and feet are just too fast for 99 percent of the fighters out there. And Mayweather is in immaculate shape. So even when he was out quickened by Judah He outlasted him. Floyd doesn't tire or slow down very much over 12 Rds. Floyd would beat Cotto to the punch, leaving Cotto to try and counter the faster and elusive Mayweather. Most people tend to forget that FM is one of the best defensive fighters in years. He is very hard to hit cleanly. I think the better fight would be Mayweather-Mosley.

Conclusion- Mayweather in a unanimous decision but a much more closer fight.

ps. As far as Floyd not wanting to fight Cotto. The only reason Jr. wouldnt fight Cotto is because of money. Oh and though Floyd dosent stand and trade with power its because he prefers to use a scientific defensive approach like many other great boxers Not because he is a coward.

  2. Mowglieb you probley dont know anything about boxing or just a die hard Cotto fan. Cotto doesn't have good defense and a questionable chin. Cotto is good, but thinks his power make up for his defense like other brawlers. Mayweather has 11>12round fights and Cotto has 4>12rounds fights. Deep water is PBF specialty. Cotto fights slow matches and not a quick starter. When Mayweather is not boxing, the guy weights only 150. How many guy's had that same plan? Cut the ring off, bang his body, brawl him and still lose. PBF is not going to sit there and trade punches but beat a guy with smarts. That doesn't mean PBF cant lose. Jordan went back, improve his game and became the best baller of his time. PBF is what you call a complete boxer. I hate watching fights, where you see a guy cant jab, move, counter, move his head and no defense. They just sit there and dont adjust. Mayweather give you all that and some more. " Please," Cotto only beat two top guy's, Mosley and Judah, the others no one new them or they fougt nobody guy's them selves. Only reason why people say he should get a chance because he has no lostes like Hatton did.

  3. Cotto would win a Decision. Technical pressure is the way to go to beat Floyd, and I believe Floyd knows this, which is why he is so blatantly ducking a match with Cotto. Watch a quicker Mayweather at LW face a lesser fighter with a similar style to Cotto in Jose Luis Castillo, and see how much trouble he had. Many thought Castillo deserved the win. Cotto is not only bigger and more powerful, but also more skilled than Castillo, and Floyd is not the fighter he used to be at LW. He's no longer capable of moving and pot-shotting all night as he showed in the rematch with Castillo. He relies on being stationary more often and counter-punching out of the pocket or off the ropes. He can get away with that against a wide open brawler like Hatton, but against a smart, technical bruiser like Cotto, it will be his downfall.

People like to think Floyd's invincible, but they simply don't understand style matchups. Cotto's style is the worst out there for Floyd, and Floyd knows it, which is why he's so quick to change the subject whenever a fight with Cotto is even brought up.

As to the other question. Is Floyd hard to knock out? He hasn't been legitimately knocked down even in 39 fights, obviously he's difficult to knock out. Cotto would win a Decision. No fighter around Mayweather's weight class nowadays is capable of stopping him.

Put him in a time machine to the 80's though, and he'll get stopped by both Tommy Hearns and Sugar Ray Leonard. Especially Hearns. Hearns would be a nightmare stylistically for Floyd.

edit: LMAO at the guy above who says Cotto doesn't deserve it. And old, past his prime DLH who's already lost deserves a rematch? An old, past his prime Mosley who just lost to Cotto deserves a fight before Cotto does? LMAO!!!

Get a grip on reality pal.

  4. I know mayweather is hated by many but gosh! One of the guy just wrote an entire essay explaining how cotto can beat mayweather. Any true boxing fan would say how can cotto beat mayweather in a decision. Mayweather is a very accurate puncher and we all know that cotto has a suspect chin. He talks as if mayweather is going to just sit there for 12 rounds and not punch and just loose a decision to cotto. tell me one thing cotto is easily counter punched. a mayweather cotto match wouldnt go more than 8 rounds. if judah could stun cotto in the 1st few rounds mayweather would knock him out. the only opponent that is really creditable is mosely who is way past his prime. Ive never in the years of boxing seen moselys defense so lazy. a mayweather cotto should definitly happen just to see cotto get knocked out for all the haters.

  5. If you had asked me six months ago or a year...without question I would say Mayweather...landsliding...without question. On the skill department it just looks like a landslide.

But Im beginning to wonder if looks arent deceiving.

People wondered the same thing when a very BASIC boxing Antonio Tarver challenged Roy Jones back when he was ROY JONES. People wondered the same thing about Lennox Lewis when he fought THE INVICIBLE Mike Tyson.

But this fight is going to come down to pedigrees.

Mayweather has been taking money fights, not challenging fights. Beating up Ricky Flatton was lightwork, and he really hasnt had a challenging fight to speak of. I agree, DeLaHoya was never really any great shakes, and is even less of one now that he is an older, more cautious version of himself.

Cotto has been taking the harder fights...he has the better grooming. Keep in mind no one thought that Sugar Ray Robinson would lose, much less get knocked thru the ropes, before the BULL got a hold of him.

I have to agree, the style would make the fight. Floyd is faster and more accurate. But in this case...would that be enough?

With me, the jury is starting to come out.

  6. I like Cotto, but I don't see him as physical enough to manhandle Floyd so he could wear him down by pounding him over the course of an entire fight.  That's the type of fighter I believe could knock Floyd out -- one physical enough and with the stamina and patience to invest in breaking him down from body over the entire fight and bringing him to point where he is susceptible to KO.  Not sure of the name of that fighter if he is out there at this time.

  7. Mayweather wins I would like to see this fight though but I dont think Cotto has earned it just yet , he needs to get in line behind everyone else. Allow Oscar to have his rematch  he deserves it and let mosely get a crack ... he more than deserves it. In answer to your question yes Mayweather is extremely hard to be knocked out. The type of fighter who could knock him out i think would be De la hoya or mosely , not like a 1 punch knock out i dont anyone could do that to floyd but from accumlation of punches i could see oscar or shane knocking him out in the late rounds if they are able to get to him early and connect. Far as Cotto goes im defintly a fan hes great to watch fight but hes a bit over rated i feel. I much rather see him give mosely a rematch , or perhaps as well fight de la hoya. I would love for him to fight trinidad i think that would be the most exciting match up for cotto and a true test.. maybe that fight can happen but thats more up to trinidad who claims he would never fight another fellow puerto rican figther.
