Miguel Diaz: Bradley is a kid that doesn't really have anything too special to talk about – Boxing News
According to Miguel Diaz, unbeaten Timothy Bradley does not have ‘anything special’ to take down the Filipino WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao in their scheduled bout on June 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Diaz, who trained Joel Casamayor against Bradley last year, believes Bradley does not have the ‘killer instincts’ to take down a fighter like Pacquiao. He added, “Our strategy was to make Casamayor bring the fight to him immediately... but unfortunately,
Casamayor, with little training and little time, he didn’t even have the desire to do it.”
Timothy Bradley had one of his most successful matches against Casamayor. He was able to beat the Cuban until Casamayor’s corner stopped the fight. However, Diaz thinks that Bradley took too long to put his fighter down, and even then, he was unable to knock
him out.
According to Diaz, “It took eight rounds for me to stop the fight. Actually, it took seven rounds for him (Bradley) to really open up on a guy who would have been knocked out in the first or second round. And this told me the mentality of Bradley. He doesn't
have that kind of killer instinct with the guy on a top level.”
Diaz said that Bradley is a ‘kid’ with nothing special in him to boast about. He added that Bradley is a great puncher but he is not a good fighter and he does not have good defense.
Bradley will go head to head against Manny Pacquiao on June 9. Pacquiao will have his WBO welterweight title on the line while Bradley will have his unbeaten streak on the line. If Pacquiao wins, he will be the first one to end Bradley unbeaten streak. However,
if Bradley wins, which is not that easy, then he will have the honour of ending the Filipino pound-for-pound king in the ring.
Both the pugilists are training hard for the big day. Even though Bradley is a 3 is to 1 underdog for the fight, Pacquiao thinks he can come tough if he is not tackled well. Pacquiao wants to knock out Bradley and not just beat him with points.
