Miguel Ferreira pockets Men’s 100m breaststroke gold: Day one – Venezuela Open Championships
Miguel Ferreira of EMIL pocketed gold medal of the Men’s 100m breaststroke in the 14 and Over category on foremost day of the Venezuela Open Championships in Maracaibo on May 17.
The 22-year-old Ferreira served notice of his talent in the double lap breaststroke discipline as he stifled hopes of his opponents by securing gold medal of the discipline.
Ferreira stayed prominently ahead of his opponents from the start and sprinted his way towards the finishing wall for gold medal by posting a time of 1 minute and 03.07 seconds.
His title-claiming effort remained 1.25 seconds faster from Carlos Claverie of LAUVI, who secured silver medal of the 100m event by reporting an effort of 1 minute and 04.32 seconds.
The second position holder was chased by Kenek Gil of MAXVI, who was 1.40 seconds slower from him and settled on the finishing blockade as third position holder by touching the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 05.72 seconds.
Fourth position of the event was secured by Luis Lovera of HHISP, who was nearly half a body length away from the third position holder and hit the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 06.27 seconds.
Lovera was chased by Hugo Araya of UCVMI, who stayed 0.41 seconds behind and completed his swim in fifth best place by producing a time of 1 minute and 06.68 seconds.
Sixth best spot of the event was obtained by Fabrizio Pozzobon of SCLN, who managed to outsmart his following swimmers and reached the finishing end with the timing of 1 minute and 07.11 seconds.
The 19-year-old Pozzobon remained 0.40 seconds faster from Edgar Aguilar of NSCMI, who failed to overpower his foregoing finisher and posted a time of 1 minute and 07.51 seconds for seventh position.
Aguilar stayed 0.12 seconds ahead of Jesus Avila of CIVO, who posted a time of 1 minute and 07.63 seconds for eighth position.
Furthermore, the arena was astounded with the gruelling efforts of all participants in their exclusive events while the position holders raked medals and accolades for their notable efforts after the session.
