The Real Betis President was full of praise for the current managerial incumbent, claiming that he would love to see him continue at the Benito Villamarin for a long time.
During the 2011/12 La Liga season, Pepe Mel oversaw an impressive survival campaign at Real Betis following their promotion to Spanish top flight football season. The Andalusian outfit managed 4 straight victories at the start of the said season, and only

Ahead of the midweek fixture, Real Betis President, Miguel Guillen, took out time to heap praise on Pepe Mel and the work he has done at the club. The boardroom supremo shared that Mel enjoys his full confidence and he would like him to stay in Andalusia
for the next 15 years.
 “Mel is loved, recognised, and above all is the Coach in charge of our project. He is showing his capabilities and has the confidence of everyone at the club,” Guillen said while talking to Cadena Cope.
“In a sporting sense he has been the most important person for us alongside the playing squad and I’m convinced he will raise the quality of the team.”
“I dream that he will be Betis’ Coach for the next 15 years.”
Guillen got his position of responsibility following Real Betis’ administration induction. With the club netting good returns after their first season in Spanish top flight division.
Over the summer transfer window, the current presidential chair incumbent tried to improve quality in Real Betis dressing room with a marquee signing. Benfica winger, Nolito, was speculated to join the Andalusian club but the move could not materialize.
Explaining the truth of the said speculation, Guillen admitted that Los Verdiblancos were in the market to excite their fans but failed in their bid to land any of their targets.
 “We tried to bring in a big-name capture because we are required to excite our fans and put together a squad that is of higher quality, but unfortunately it was not to be,” confessed Guillen.
