Miguel Montero sparks as Arizona Diamondbacks beat Pittsburgh Pirates 8-5 - MLB Update

Arizona Diamondbacks’ catcher, Miguel Montero had an outstanding day with the bat as he hit two RBIs including a solo homer and went 3-for-4 with an average of .285 in the Diamondbacks’ 8-5 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates at Chase Field, Arizona on September
21.
Diamondbacks blasted three quick runs in the first inning to take a 3-0 lead. Justin Upton hit a sacrifice fly towards centre-field and Willie Bloomquist added the first run for Diamondbacks. Montero hit a two-run homer (413 feet) to right-field and Aaron
Hill scored the third run. Pirates’ right-fielder Ryan Ludwick also homered (399 feet) towards left-field to cut their deficit 3-1 at the top of second inning.
In the third inning, Diamondbacks smashed five runs and led off 8-1. Chris Young drove a single-run shot to left-field and Upton scored one run. Montero and Young both posted the second and third runs, respectively, when Ryan Roberts hit a double-run shot
to deep left-field and Lyle Overbay moved to third base.
Roberts and Overbay added the last two runs for Diamondbacks when Hill hit a single-run drive to left-field. Wade Miley occupied second base to end the five-run campaign for the Diamondbacks. In the fourth inning, Andrew McCutchen was able to score just
one run when Derrek Lee singled off right-field. However, the Diamondbacks remained on top 8-2 after the fourth inning.
Miley effectively pitched for the Diamondbacks as he threw his five innings with an ERA of 4.15 and struck-out three-batters. He permitted two runs, one walk, one home-run, two earned runs and five hits on his 89 pitches. During sixth inning, Lee hit a one-run
homer (446 feet) towards left-centre to reduce the Pirates’ lead 8-3.
At the top of the seventh inning, Josh Harrison scored on the wild pitch of Diamondbacks’ reliever Bryan Shaw to further cut their deficit 8-4. Pirates posted another run in the eighth inning to end the game 8-5. Neil Walker added the final run when Jason
Jaramillo drove a double-run shot to deep left-field and Pedro Alvarez occupied third base to end the eighth inning.
As a result, Diamondbacks sealed the three-game series 2-1 after beating the Pirates in the series decider.
